this one was interesting. i wanted to have a lot of erratic components but still have something identifiably steady for them to sort of be in opposition to. so the drums are steady (relatively, though i didn't use a metronome at all for this one) as is the bassline, but then there's room for a bunch of erratic stuff on top.
to keep it from just sounding completely random i used the trick of simply only using the black keys on the keyboard (and writing a bassline which similarly sticks to a pentatonic scale). this allowed me to do things with no pattern whatsoever that still sound relatively consonant.
